Speech Within Reach

Speech Pathology Services

About

Hello & welcome! I’m Stephanie Allan, owner of Speech Within Reach.

I’m a passionate certified practising speech pathologist who has worked with individuals across the lifespan, developing a particular interest within the paediatric population. My areas of interest include speech sound disorders, developmental language disorders, orofacial myofunctional disorders, early intervention and literacy.

Prior to completing my Master of Speech Pathology at La Trobe University, I completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science at Monash University, where I learnt valuable skills in supporting the mental wellbeing of clients and their families. During my studies, I worked as a disability support worker, supporting children and adults with intellectual disability to develop social and life skills. This was extremely rewarding.

I have experience working in a variety of settings including hospitals, schools, kindergartens, community health and client homes. I also have extensive experience conducting assessment and therapy sessions using telehealth services.

I believe that success in therapy is achieved by first establishing a good collaborative relationship with the child and their family. This involves forming client goals together and creating a fun and engaging environment. I am committed to ongoing professional development and have completed formal training in speech sound disorders, literacy, orofacial myology and early intervention.

Our Services

  • Speech Within Reach provides comprehensive speech pathology assessments, using standardised assessment tools. The type of assessment conducted is based on the area/s of difficulty experienced by your child. This could include speech, language, oromyofunctional and literacy assessment.

Reports are provided at an additional cost to the assessment session/s and are recommended for record keeping and communication between health professionals.

  • Therapy sessions take place in the Canterbury clinic room. All sessions are 60 mins, which involves 45 mins face to face with the client and 15 mins for non-clinical administration work (session notes, emails to parents/teachers, creating resources, session planning etc.).

  • Speech Within Reach provides telehealth therapy services as an alternative to face to face sessions. This provides convenient access to services as they can take place anywhere with internet connection.

The speech pathologist uses a videoconferencing software (zoom) to administer client sessions in real-time.

Telehealth therapy sessions are 60 mins, with 45 mins with the client and 15 mins for non-clinical administration (session notes, emails to parents/teachers, creating resources, session planning etc.).

Speech Within Reach is a paediatric speech pathology service, focusing on early intervention and supporting children up to 12 years to reach their potential in the areas of speech, language, literacy, early intervention and orofacial myology.

We are based in Canterbury, VIC 3126 and provide in-clinic services.
